Trimble Novapoint vital in new rail traffic solution

Triona has together with Trimble won a contract to deliver a new system for handling traffic-related route information for the Norwegian National Rail Administration (NNRA). The system includes the products Triona TNE and Trimble Novapoint, plus a new web solution.

Traffic-based route information is part of NNRA´s project program Operational Traffic Information (OTI) started in January 2008. The program objective is to streamline and rationalize work processes in two of NNRA´s main production processes: the distribution of infrastructure capacity and managing the rail traffic.

The contracted delivery involves developing a system that handles all traffic-related route information that is needed to enable safe driving of trains. The system will be a central source of data for other systems and users.

The solution will be realized using Triona´s Transport Network Engine (TNE) as the central data source, and Trimble Novapoint for updating the rail network and associated infrastructure data. The solution also includes a new web solution for presentation of relevant data, in which displaying map views is of central importance.

”The fact that Trimble Novapoint is an important part of the solution reinforces our strong position in railway infrastructure projects and also strengthens our excellent cooperation with Triona”, says Idar Kirkhorn, managing director of Trimble´s infrastructure activities in the Nordics.
